The recent landscape paintings are visual poems or memories of daily walks in the woods, journeys upstate New York or the wild tidal marshland visible from my studio. Seasonal shifts in colors and light inform my work. Through abstraction and play paint is both poured and brushed onto the neutral ground of clear-gessoed canvas. Solar and lunar bodies feature in many of the paintings. I attempt to create landscapes which are both familiar yet unknown. I want the work to attract the viewer with beauty and simultaneously prompt curiosity.
