The recent landscape paintings are visual poems inspired by walks in the fields, forests and mountains of upstate New York and the Berkshires. Daily and seasonal shifts in colors and light inform the work. Through abstraction and play paint is both poured and brushed onto the neutral ground of clear-gessoed canvas. I attempt to create landscapes which are both familiar yet unknown. I want the work to attract the viewer with beauty and simultaneously prompt curiosity.
