YEARNING FOR SPRING
2021
oil on panel
20x16
The recent landscape paintings are visual poems inspired by walks in the fields, forests and mountains of upstate New York and the Berkshires. Daily and seasonal shifts in colors and light inform the work. Through abstraction and play, I use large brushes for loose gestures and small brushes for detail. I attempt to create paintings which are both familiar yet unknown. I want the work to attract the viewer with beauty and simultaneously prompt curiosity.
